Wake Up!
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10)
I am being drawn here to this cry of David’s heart. It resounds inside me as I believe that the Church is being stirred and crying out these very words in this hour of tremendous chaos.
The way we have been living for so long is not working. Our ways of believing, wrapped in a culture of religion, are failing to bring any change. And, like David, we are becoming ‘desperate’; in other words, there is a stirring of great repentance deep inside as we turn away from the system of religion and back to God.
This ‘repentance’ is not extreme emotionalism and self-deprecation; but, a ‘realignment’ with the heart of God. This ‘repentance’ will cause the Church to rise up in true Kingdom Authority and Power. And, it will usher in the Season of Transformation. This Season is the revealing of the sons of God bringing liberation to the land and gathering in the Great Harvest.
It all begins with the verse quoted above.
First, David cries out for God to create in him a pure heart. The word ‘pure’ means simply ‘undefiled’, ‘unadulterated’. If we remember that Psalm 51 came out of the adulterous relationship David had with Bathsheba, and at the same time, he is called ‘a man after God’s own heart’ (see Acts 13:22); then, we can understand the pain David felt in his heart. And, the desire that his heart be changed.
Secondly, David asks God to renew within him a steadfast spirit. The word ‘steadfast’ means, “To establish, set in place, make secure, prepared, ready.” It is one thing to ask God to do something in my heart. It is another for me to embrace what God is doing, align with it, and walk it out.
Let me say it this way. God does the work of purification. God, alone is Holy and Pure; and, it is through the Blood of King Jesus that His Holiness and Purity are applied to my heart. My heart, then, is ‘created’ new in Christ. I am Holy for He is Holy. Then, as I embrace this holy place in Christ, as I align with Him, I am established or set in place in such a way as to cause my life to radically change. In short, I am set back on the path He created for me to walk on with Him.
This is exactly what is happening within the Church today. I am hearing the Lord say:
“I AM stirring you and shaking you in this hour. Like the sound of thunder in the night, I AM shaking you. Wake Up, Beloved! For there is a coming storm upon the land. There is a rain coming unlike any other. A Rain of Oil, and a Rain of Fire.” Wake Up, My Beloved, for the hour is already late, and I have called you out of the darkness to walk in the Light.”
“Wake Up, and let the Spirit of Repentance wash over you like fresh, pure water. Wake Up, and embrace the Spirit of Humility and Purity as one embraces the warmth of the sun after a long, cold night.”
“You have been living with a rebellious heart, Beloved. Rationalizing and defending your own choices and ways, which are not Mine. Working hard to create an image of righteousness through outward works, while hiding the true motives of ego, vanity, and pride. You have thought you could change this nation by getting others to be like you. You constantly speak My Name and claim My Word; but, your hearts have been far from Me.”
“BUT, that is all changing in this hour of great shaking. You have been faith-less; but, I AM FAITHFUL. I have not forgotten My Covenant with you, nor have I renounced My Promises made to you. I AM shaking you in this hour to cause you to turn once again to Me.”
The Lord says, “Wake Up! Get Ready! As you let go of your rebellious ways and embrace Me, I will cause you to rise up in strength and establish you as My Unshakable Voice to the nation. I will place My Authority upon you in a measure you have not had in the past. I will pour out My Power through you mightily. For YOU are to be the Storm that is coming. YOU are to be My Rain of Healing Oil and My Rain of Transforming Fire.”
“The land is groaning, this nation is trembling. But, do not fear, for the land shall not be made desolate; nor, this nation be utterly destroyed. For, I have held you in My heart for such a time as this. I have led you by My Spirit and My Word to bring you to this very place, this very hour. Watch, stand fast in faith. For, I AM with you and I AM mighty to save.”
