We are Created to Live a Miraculous Life

“To this I will appeal: the years of the right hand of the Most High.” I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.” (Psalm 77:10-11 NIV)

It’s common for us to think of miracles as the norm for God, something He does on our behalf. It’s not so common for us to think of them as a norm for us, something we participate in with God.  After all, God is God and we are not.

The truth is, however, that we are spiritual beings made in God’s image and filled with His Spirit, to live as Him in the earth. We are created to live a miraculous life.

As I read the words of Psalm 77, I’m stirred by the psalmist’s desire to see the miraculous power of God in his life.  I share his desire. A couple words stand out to me that bring that life into focus–‘remember’ and ‘appeal’.

Twice the he says, “I will remember”. He is calling his soul to the place of ‘re-membering’. I see this as taking hold of something forgotten or left behind, and bringing it back to its proper place. In other words, he is calling his soul to take hold of the miracles of God done long ago and pull them into the present. He is like David who commanded his soul to take hold of the the miracle working power of God:

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” (Psa. 103:2-5 ESV)

This is important. If we look at the miracles of God as something He did long ago, or think of His miraculous, eternal Life as something we hope to obtain in the future, we never experience the reality that the past and the future are wrapped up in the NOW of God. “Christ in you” is not a past event or a future probability, but a present reality.

When Moses asked God His name, He replied, “I AM who I AM.” (Exodus 3:14) He did not say, “I was”, or, “I will be”. God is here. He works and wills according to His good pleasure NOW even as He did long ago and will do far off into the distant future. To begin to experience the abundant, miraculous life of God we must  re-member, or pull the past and future of God’s deeds and promises into our present reality in Christ. Which leads me to the second word, ‘appeal’.

An appeal is: “an application for corroboration, vindication, or decision”. The psalmist makes an appeal to “the years of the right hand of the Most High.” In other words, he is stating his claim of inheritance before the Lord. He is making this appeal at the ‘right hand of the Most High.‘ The right hand signifies power, authority, and blessing. His appeal is made; therefore, from that position. What a powerful and beautiful reality!

    He was prophesying our reality.

Scripture makes it clear we are not only in Christ, but seated with Him in the heavenly places at the Father’s right hand. (Eph. 2:6)  We have rightful claim of inheritance before our God because of our position in Christ. This gives us the confidence to come before the Throne with our hopes, dreams and desires knowing that we have the favor of the King and nothing is withheld from us. (Heb. 4:16)

Our appeal rises from our position ‘in Christ’. It carries power because it is based upon the Faith of Christ. A faith that takes hold of the impossible making it possible. A faith to lay hold of creative abilities far beyond all limitations. A faith that embraces the process of transformation into the fullness of the image of Christ with ever increasing glory. A faith to live from the place of Greater Glory for we are one with Him at the right hand of the Father.

“What you hold in your hearts you will hold in your hands.” says the Spirit of God, affirming the power of our appeal at the right hand of the Most High.

The Spirit also said through the prophet, “The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former.” (Haggai 2:9) We are the present house, the Temple of the Lord where God has made His dwelling. The Glory of the Lord is in His Temple and increasing to pour forth and fill the earth.

Now is the time of New Beginnings. The Days of Awakening are here as more and more Blood-redeemed believers are awakening to our true identity and purpose in Christ, and to embrace and live a miraculous life.
